Shirley Ashcroft not only makes the meanest cuppa in HBPW’s Retford office – her builder’s brew has been likened to the caffeine equivalent of nectar – but is also the East Midlands answer to Nick Faldo!
Although some might consider that a slight exaggeration, Shirley has been taking to the golf course for nigh on five years, and is currently a member of Serlby Park Golf Club near Bawtry in the East Midlands.
However, when not proving her prowess with the kettle or getting in a round of golf, Shirley is very much the company’s ‘IT’ girl with responsibility for running HBPW’s archive system.
Located in the ground floor hub adjacent to the board room, Shirley can be found in the euphemistically named ‘live’ room where all current jobs are carefully catalogued and overseen by her on a day to day basis.
“Archiving is such a key part of any engineering business,” she said. “We have current jobs and recently archived instructions, both of which remain in our offices for several months before being moved to our off site storage centre. Ensuring that everything runs smoothly so that engineers have instant access to any job they may require, past or present, is key to a well run archive operation.”
