Spotlight On…..Rachel Flack

Rachel FlackWhen HBPW PA, Rachel Flack, finds herself going round in circles she, more than anyone else within the firm, has artistic licence to use that phrase!

That’s because Rachel, who has worked at HBPW for nearly eight years, was once an art assistant to international – and controversial – artist, Damien Hirst.

And for much of her four years at the artist’s London studios Rachel, who studied art at Swansea Institute of Higher Education, worked on Hirst’s famous ‘spot’ and ‘spin’ paintings. Now, however, she has found comparative ‘stability’ in the solid structures of the civil and structural engineering sector!A Damien Hirst Spot Painting

“It may all sound terribly glamorous but it wasn’t anything of the kind! It was fun while it lasted, however, Mr Hirst would devise a concept and then my job as an art assistant would be to re produce his concepts all day long.

“A number of us were employed to do the job and every circle had to be individually painted. Whilst I still love his ‘spot’ concepts, four years drawing circles was quite enough!”A Damien Hirst Spin Painting

Rachel, who works for Managing Partner, Paul Withers, still paints for pleasure and has been known to produce work for colleagues. Any commissions?
