Highly complicated signalling and telecommunications cables had to be diverted as part of a scheme completed by HBPW and its client, Kelly Rail.
An existing rail maintenance depot in Hornsey, North London, looks set to be decommissioned and, as part of the shutdown, a new depot has been built adjacent to the East Coast rail line and alongside the old facility.
But it was not without a lot of technical thought by the two teams from HBPW and Kelly Rail. Managing director of HBPW, Paul Withers, said: “It would have been impossible to build the new depot without first diverting the signalling and telecoms cables. That is no mean feat, however, I am delighted to report that the project is all but complete after more than a little head scratching!”
