HBPW Expands Its Operation

And, when clients visit the practice’s new third floor office at The Electric Works on Concourse Way, in the heart of the city, they can expect more than top-notch engineering drawings: there is a helter-skelter style access slide running from the top to the ground floor which visitors in a hurry will be invited to use for faster access to the car park!
But, fairground novelties to one side, the new office is set to become a primary recruitment hub for HBPW, which now boasts an impressive UK-wide client base including the likes of Network Rail, Associated British Ports, Forth Ports, Drax Power Station and UKAEA.
“We have been growing steadily for many years,” said, Partner, Paul Monaghan, “and even during the first 2020 lockdown we barely paused for breath, maintaining momentum on a raft of large civil engineering projects, so this additional base of operation will be paramount to supporting that increasing workload.”
“Whilst our head office in Retford, Nottinghamshire, continues to thrive, we are now at capacity and, with even more work beckoning further north and, particularly in the north west and Scotland, it seemed to make sense to centre our gaze on Sheffield.”
The new operation will be headed up by Partner, Martin Todd.
First established in Retford in 2001, HBPW now employs 35 staff, including 25 engineers, in addition to specialist sub-contractors and, working with supply chain partners, we are able to complete large multidisciplinary projects.
“Sheffield is not only a vibrant city,” said Martin, “but it has great transport links – buses, trams, trains and, of course, the M1 – but, more than that, it is a major draw for young engineers and it is that appeal that we will be looking to capitalise on.
The Sheffield office, which has capacity for 12 people, will initially be occupied by Martin and engineers, Dominik Spirydowicz and Dimitrios Tsiritakis.
“Good engineers are at a premium,” added Martin, “and we will be looking to attract the best young graduates around, offering them the chance to work on some of the most exciting projects currently under construction in the UK.”
The company’s engineering prowess can be seen on projects as diverse as the re-development of Dundee waterfront and even the huge Immingham Renewals Fuel Terminal (IRFT).
“This is an exciting development,” added Partner, Emyr Parry. “The new office is just a three-minute walk from both Sheffield Train and Bus Stations so access is excellent and we look forward to welcoming clients, old and new, to our new Yorkshire satellite office.”
