Engineer Tom Flint barely had time to paws for thought during his latest assignment….helping one of the country’s leading manufacturers of dog food to upgrade part of their site.

Hull based Bennington Foods are a tenant of South Street Capital and needed additional space for storage and manufacture at their Long Bennington site on the Roseland Business Park near Nottingham.

Tom said: “The company is a leading manufacturer of pet products, supplying major blue chip pet food operations across the world as well as producing its own range for retail markets.

“Exporting as far afield as Hong Kong, South Africa, Finland and Spain, the 23 year old company has grown into a considerable operation since its establishment in 1993, prompting the need for additional space on its former airfield site.

“Supporting their tenant, South Street Capital, asked us to work with Hull based contractor, Hobson & Porter to design the foundations and superstructure for a 40mx70m shed. We also designed the associated external works including hard standings and drainage which included a 450m3 surplus water attenuation tank.”

A new staff car park also features in the scheme as well as a dock ramp and leveller for the loading and unloading of HGV trucks.

“Bennington’s is a well-known brand in the pet food world and this new facility will put them in pole position to further grow their reputation over the next few years,” added Tom.
