Bi-Lingual Bakers Go Head to Head!
9/11/2017 - posted in UncategorisedEngineer Denis Fodosov went head to head with his baking nemesis Elin Griffiths, when members of the HBPW team took up the Macmillan cake challenge!
Denis, originally born in Moscow region and rumoured to be a dab hand at Russian Sharlotka Cake, narrowly snatched the Best Bake title from cupcake queen Elin with his Oreo Raspberry Pudding, despite strong contention from the Welsh wizardess and her Vegan Oreo creation!
“Everyone was so busy sampling a string of gorgeous creations on the day that the pounds must have been piled on that weekend,” joked organiser of the annual bash, Partner, Helen Haynes.
Ben ‘The Bun’ Daly won last year but, this time around, competition was fierce as the HBPW sponge war swung into action. But, the bake-off challenge was all in the spirit of entente cordiale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Members of staff were each invited to bake a cake and bring it into the office. Every slice went on sale with proceeds going to the cancer charity. Around £140 was raised.
Helen added: “It is a nationwide event and we always try to get the whole of the office involved. It’s great fun and we always have a laugh. I never cease to be amazed at some of the cake creations and the competitive spirit Macmillan’s event always produces!”
Reports that Managing Partner, Paul Withers, had a slice of award winning cake stolen from his plate have been grossly exaggerated
