WembleyHBPW has landed a major contract worth tens of thousands of pounds to design all the temporary works for a £6m+ retail, residential and hotel development at Wembley Central station.

Main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland Ltd, who are based in Heage, Derbyshire, were looking to partner up with a team of rail engineering experts and approached HBPW towards the end of last year.

Proposals are on the table for a major five storey building above Wembley Central station featuring two levels of retail, two of residential housing and a Travelodge Hotel.

“We have now been charged with designing the temporary works and technical submissions to Network Rail,” said HBPW Associate Paul Jacklin, “and, whilst major work has yet to commence at site, we have been at the drawing board since December.”

Temporary works are put in place during the construction process and provide a safe means for development work to be carried out.

“It is proposed to build a scaffold on top of the station concourse so part of our design work will have to ensure that the scaffolding is not only safe, but that its additional load can be borne as part of the temporary works,” he added.
