N’ice’ Video Provokes Happiness Controversy!

HBPW has moved rapidly to scotch rumours that its engineers are overly happy and are set to follow in the footsteps of fellow engineers with a début on You Tube!

The ‘happiness denial’ follows moves by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to popularise the profession amongst young graduates considering a career in construction, with the release of an unorthodox video on the social media site!

Featuring a rather dapper Sir John Armitt and dozens more engineers young and old, the video sees them mimicking Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’ video, invariably whilst they are in hard hats or working in fluorescent jackets on location at engineering sites.

But, whilst the video appears to be a hit amongst young people, others consider that it has brought the profession into disrepute. “Isambard Kingdom Brunel would turn in his grave,” said one, whilst others called it “embarrassing.”

However, if nothing else, the video has provoked debate and certainly got people talking, not only on the internet, but also in the leader column of the New Civil Engineer magazine.

Judge for yourself. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4zymdaEJlA
